In addition to a close reading of historical documents, researchers can also use machine-reading tools to get a broader view of a text as a whole. Above is a word cloud generated in software called, Voyant Tools. The word cloud represents analysis of the entire body of textual evidence from the interviews the Royal Commission on the Relations of Capital and Labor conducted in Ontario.
